Two staff provide support to 12 service users (6 in shared housing and 6 in self-contained) overall during office hours, with a call out system at other times. Service users are subject to six weekly and random drug tests and are required to be totally clean of all drugs and alcohol. The communal lounge enables group support meetings to take place, and service users are linked into aftercare and employment and training services. The service engages in periodic joint support planning sessions between the client, Broadway and the DAAT team. Length of stay is between 6 – 18 months and move on is via the council’s choice based lettings scheme. Broadway staff negotiate with the council to get more priority for their clients under this system and to enable them to bid successfully for a one bed street flat that is not in a known drug dealing area.
