Mapping supply across authorities

There may be some needs that it is uneconomic for you to provide for locally because you do not have sufficient critical mass to make a scheme viable. This can particularly be the case for services requiring 24 hour staff cover. Many of your neighbouring authorities may be in the same position. In addition, all authorities are likely to have a need to place drug users outside their own borough at times. Knowing what supply is available across different authorities in a region or sub-region can help to broker discussions about how authorities could begin to work together in a mutually beneficial way.

A tool for mapping supply across neighbouring authorities is available here. The NTA regional managers could be asked to play a role, alongside their regional housing colleagues and regional offender managers, in brokering discussions about cross authority collaboration to meet the housing needs of drug users.
